Prof. Cecilia Méndez is new LAIS Director

Professor Cecilia Méndez has been appointed as Director of the Latin American and Iberian Studies Program at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Méndez is a Professor of History and the author of The Plebeian Republic: The Huanta Rebellion and the Making of the Peruvian State (2005), which won the Howard F. Cline Award for “the best book on indigenous history in Latin America.” Learn more about Prof. Méndez research and teaching here.
