SILENCED VOICES | XIX Hispanic and Lusophone Conference

April 18, 2019 @ 9:00 am

The Lusophone and Hispanic Annual Graduate Conference, organized by the Spanish and Portuguese Department’s Graduate Students, has been in existence for almost 20 years. As an interdisciplinary event, which presents research from different fields and co-related fields (Comparative Literature, Feminist and Queer Studies, Luso-Brazilian Literature, Spanish and Spanish American Literatures, Latin American and Iberian Studies, Chicanx Literature, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, and Translation Studies), this conference provides the opportunity to UCSB Graduate Students and other campuses in California and out of state to share their research papers not only amongst their colleagues but also amongst the Faculty across campus. It is a prolific and healthy environment of debate and exchange of ideas. The conference has been a success in the past years.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Jorge Pérez (University of Texas at Austin)

Co-sponsorships are: the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, the Center for Portuguese Studies, the Graduate Student Association, the LAIS Program and the UC Humanities and Fine Arts.
